AAL Extends AUWC Service

Heavy-lift shipping line AAL has increased its Australia West Coast Liner Service to a monthly service due to “sustained economic growth” in the region.

To boost the frequency of sailings the firm is adding a second multipurpose vessel, providing additional capacity to support increased volumes of mining, oil and gas and infrastructure cargoes. AAL cites rising commodity prices as a key driver for “very strong growth” in Western Australia’s mineral and petroleum industry.

“We are particularly delighted to be expanding the AUWC service, as western Australian has taken its share of economic hits in the past few years. Unlike other carriers, who canceled services during the tough times and left local shippers with few options, AAL has not wavered in its support of the region,” said Christophe Grammare, commercial director of AAL.

AAL is a member of Cypriot investment group Schoeller Holdings, and operates a specialist multipurpose fleet with heavy-lift capabilities of up to 700 tonnes, providing breakbulk and project cargo services worldwide.
