Sarens Lifts Goseong Steels

Project lifting specialist Sarens has moved a series of steel structures as part of construction of the Goseong Green Power Plant in South Korea.

The breakbulk parts each weighed 20 tonnes and were lifted into place using largest tower crane in Korea, the WT2405L. The giant tower cranes were delivered from Poland to Seoul by sea and from there required 45 trucks to transport to the job site 500 kilometers away.

"It took us one year to convince the client to use a tower crane instead of crawler cranes due to limited space available on site. The client realized that the Sarens WT2405 is one of the biggest tower cranes in Asia and was convinced that they could save the construction period, which meant saving money," said Jungho Lee, project manager at Sarens.

Belgian group Sarens provides engineering, procurement and construction services for heavy-lift projects worldwide via a network of more than 100 subsidiaries in 54 countries.
